Windows operating system crashes are a frequent occurrence for all its users. This article is devoted to solving one of such bugs, namely 0x80080008.It can occur when a computer logger tries to test the setup for updates or attempts to deploy them on its own. Since the bug report does not contain any information, people often find it difficult to correct the bug and are driven to search for solutions on the Internet. We have provided some of these solutions in this article.  Reasons of the bug The bug couldn’t have come out of nowhere, and something must have caused it. Before you start solving the problem, you need to know what caused it.Thus, the explanation for the bug with code 0x80080008 could be:Defective files in the system data.Broken or altered parts of the Microsoft Update Center.Certain viruses that infiltrated your computer could block the normal operation of Windows Update.Antivirus or firewall configurations on your OS may have blocked some parts of the Update Center.Now let’s move on to how to repair this!  Overview of BITS and Service Center Both the BITS and Windows Update Center services play a key role during operating system updates, so if something happens to them, expect trouble. Error 0x80080008 can be caused because these services have either stopped functioning or are not performing correctly. To correct it, you should:Press Win+S on your keyboard to bring up the search bar for the system. Type “Services” into it and press on the result found to bring up the appropriate settings window. Search for the services named “Windows Update Center” and “BITS” in the “Services” window. You are also recommended to restart these services by simply pressing the “Stop” and “Start” buttons in the properties window of the service. Once you have finished scanning and restarting the services, reboot your PC.  Check system files Utilize the system file checker utility, or simply SFC, to recover corrupted system files. It scans all system files, finds damaged files, and tries to repair them if possible. SFC is a bundled utility, so you don’t need to download anything from outside sources on the Internet.Push Windows+S on your keyboard and enter ” the command line” in the search box. Entry rightclick on the output and choose ” Start as administrator”. Next, type the command sfc /scannow in the black window and push Enter button to run a scan of your systems files. The process will take some time, but wait until it’s complete, which will bring you the results.  Clean up the SoftwareDistribution\Download folder This is the folder where you can see the update files previously downloaded from Microsoft’s servers. They are the ones which can cause error 0x80080008. If you encounter this problem, you should simply clean up this file folder. Open Windows Explorer and browse to C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download via the window’s search bar. Erase any information that will be in this folder, and then reset your computer.
